This week the children have been learning about filtered water. We discussed the fact that all we have to do to get fresh, safe drinking water is turn on a tap because our water is cleaned and sent to our homes via pipes. We have also looked at how available water is in different countries. We found out that some people have to walk for miles in order to just get enough water to live on. Unfortunately this water tends not to be clean or safe to drink. We discussed that there are charities trying to help those in need of clean water and that someone had even invented something called the Life Straw. This filters water to make it safer to drink.
We had a go at inventing our own water filters using natural materials. Have a look at the photos below to see how we got on!
This half term we will be looking at States of Matter. This links with our topic on water and the water cycle. This week we have discussed the three different states of matter. These are:
The children were able to identify some different types of these from objects around the classroom.
