The EYFS children really enjoyed listening to the story Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. The Nursery children used paper plates to make images of Owl Mother. The Reception children used a range of techniques including printing, cutting, tearing and collage to make pictures of the owl babies.
Jack and the Beanstalk
As part of the EYFS topic, New Life and Change, the F1 and F2 children listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children explored a range of materials at the creative area in response to the story, including choosing resources to make models of the giant's castle and painting pictures of Jack and the beanstalk.
Chinese New Year Music and Dance
After listening to extracts of Chinese music and watching film clips of the lion and dragon dances, the EYFS children went to the school hall to explore making Chinese New Year music and creating dance.
Chinese New Year Arts and Crafts
The children in F1 and F2 have explored techniques including cutting, folding, tearing, scrunching and gluing to create dragon puppets and lanterns.
The F1 and F2 children have been exploring ways of joining materials whilst making pirate binoculars to use in the role play area.
The EYFS children have been learning about pirate ships. They have been learning new vocabulary to describe parts of a pirate ship. The children have used the wooden blocks to construct galleons. They have created collage pictures of ships and models ships which they tested to see how many pirates they would carry without sinking. Look at these super play dough creations!
Congratulations children on your fantastic performance as the shepherds in the Christmas concert, Bethlehem's Buzzin!' You had the confidence to stand on the stage in front of all the families and friends to sing Hurry Down the Hillside. You made us proud!
Expressive Arts linked to Diwali
Whilst finding out about the celebration of Diwali, the children in EYFS used their creative skills to make masks of Hanuman and his monkey army. They shaped clay to create diwas which they decorated using their own choices of colour and materials. The children explored making Indian music and creating Diwali dances.
