Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Statement

Pupil Premium is a Government initiative, which provides additional funding aimed at children from deprived backgrounds. Research clearly shows established links between deprivation and educational underachievement, with the grant enabling schools to support these children in overcoming any barriers they may have in successfully engaging with their education. The Pupil Premium is provided in order to support these children to reach their full potential by accelerating their progress and providing them with experiences which may not normally be available to them. Pupil Premium applies to those children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. Our Pupil Premium policy provides further information.

Pupil Premium Impact

At Rokeby Primary School, all our staff and governors accept responsibility for those children in both KS1 and KS2 recognised as ‘disadvantaged’ and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs in a caring environment. As with every child in our care, a child who is considered to be ‘disadvantaged’ is valued, respected and entitled to develop to his/her full potential, irrespective of disadvantage or need. We aim to ensure that every child leaves Rokeby excited about learning and determined to succeed. We want to equip them with confidence, resilience and a passion for justice and equality. These qualities will enable them to thrive and to champion kindness and fairness at all stages of their future lives. The targeted and strategic use of Pupil Premium funding will support us in achieving our aims.
