Today we thought about the people who help us and look after us as part of our Global Virtues week. We focused on the police and discussed all the different things they do to keep us safe in our homes, schools and towns. We are very grateful for all the things they do for us and we made them posters telling them that they are GREAT! Here are our special ‘high fives’ for the police officers.
Thank you to all the parents who came to look at your children's learning so far this year this afternoon. It was great to share your children's achievements with you.
Reception had a great time meeting Sonnie a therapy dog last Wednesday as part of our topic on ‘Vets and Pets’. We learnt lots about how to care for a dog and what owners have to do to keep their dogs healthy. Sonnie enjoyed all the extra treats for being so brilliant with all the children. Thankyou to Mrs McFadden for bringing Sonnie in to help us with our learning.
We have had a busy week being vets in our role play area and beginning to explore our new animal-based topic all about pets, specifically dogs! The children have produced some fantastic writing through labelling pictures of dogs and attempting a few words and even sentences! We have worked hard to understand the concept of 'one more' when counting and noticed that the numbers get bigger. In phonics, we have learnt the new sounds f, j, b and z. Please help us to practise writing them and looking for them around our environment, alongside discussing what we can find beginning with these sounds - eg. 'fog', 'jam', 'bags' and 'zip'.
Welcome back to the second half of our Autumn Term!
We will be exploring the text Our Very Own Dog and thinking about caring for pets. Do you have a pet at home? How do you look after it?
We are excited to welcome a special visitor who will share with us how to care for pets. We will also begin practising songs for our Christmas performance and attend some exciting events in the run up to this wonderful time of year!
Please scroll down to the bottom of our page to find our letters, including our new class letter for Autumn 2. .
What a brilliant first half term we had in R/1! We have done so much and explored two wonderful stories: The Gigantic Turnip and No Dinner! Our role play area has been explored and enjoyed by everyone and we have used our imagination and learning skills in many different ways: from buying some food at the farm shop or serving customers to going on adventures in our jungle jeep and also searching for jungle animals using binoculars.
